Bayer Builds new ICU for Rhino Orphans

December 10, 2015

Pharmaceutical superstars Bayer have committed to build a new intensive care unit at The Rhino Orphanage. It is a massive boost to the facility, which was the first of its kind, and has cared for almost 30 baby rhino. The news was delivered personally by Dr Dirk Ehle, Global Head of Bayer Animal Health to the orphanage in Limpopo, South Africa. The new ICU will be built in the New Year to extend the ability of the orphanage to care for even more seriously injured and traumatized babies.

In addition to the new ICU, Bayer has committed to supplying urgently needed products for day to day vet use, and the first delivery was made by Dr Ehle with his team of Dr Gyoergy Polgar, Country Divisional Head South Africa and Dr Clinton Austin, Head of Research & Development, Bayer Animal Health, South Africa. The Bayer products donated consist of a variety of nutritional supplements, electrolytes, wound treatment sprays, ectoparasiticide (to control ticks and flies), among others, with the latest technology to keep our babies healthy and in top shape.
